While Circle's filtering levels and categorization will often be sufficient for your family's needs, there may be times when your filter settings are still allowing a site that you would like to filter out or filtering out a site that you'd like to allow. Custom filters will let you control Filter Settings on a site-by-site basis.
IMPORTANT: Custom filters work a little differently than the normal categories and platforms. Allowing a site with the Custom Filter will allow that site to bypass Circle's other Filter Settings and Time Limits for that family member. Bedtime and Pause will still be enforced.
ACCESSING CUSTOM FILTERS
From the home screen, select the family member you'd like to manage custom filters for.
Select Filter Level from their settings
Tap the Custom Filter button at the bottom of the filter settings. NOTE: The Custom Filter button is "sticky", meaning that it will always be stuck to the bottom of the filter settings screen despite scrolling up and down.
To always allow a website:
On the Filter Settings screen, tap Custom Filter on the bottom.
Tap Add Website and enter in the URL (web address) of the site you’d like to allow and tap Done.
Make sure that the toggle is set to Allow (to the right).
The Family Member will now be able to access the site no matter the Filter Level or Setting.
To filter out a specific website:
Tap the URL to toggle the switch off to filter out the website.
The Family Member will no longer be able to access the site no matter the Filter Level or Setting.
To remove a website from Custom Filter:
Tap Edit on the top right corner.
Tap the delete button for each website you would like to remove from the Custom Filters.
Tap Done to save.
NOTE: Circle's custom filter settings only support domain address. Individual IP addresses are not supported at this time.
ADDING CUSTOM FILTERS VIA INSIGHTS
The Insights section for each profile allows you to add websites to the Custom Filters on the fly for each family member. From there, you can filter out sites that were allowed or allow sites that were filtered out.
To filter out a website from the Insights summary:Tap any website listed on the Insights summary screen and select "Filter for..." (see below). This will add the website to the Custom Filter list and set the toggle to filter out that site.
To filter out a website from the History of visited sites:Select History from the Insights summary. Tap any website you would like to filter out from the Visited timeline and select "Filter for...". This will add the website to the Custom Filter list and set the toggle to filter out that site.
To allow a website from the History of filtered sites:Select History from the Insights summary. Tap any website you would like to ALLOW from the Filtered timeline and select "Always allow for...". This will add the website to the Custom Filter list and set the toggle to filter out that site.
